The Swim Conferences
The Piranhas compete in two (dual meet) summer leagues known as the Lakeland Swim Conference and the Ramapo Hills Swim Conference. The member teams come from Morris, Bergen, Passaic and Sussex counties. Boys swim against boys and girls swim against girls. The swimmers are divided up into two-year age groups, i.e. 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14. Ramapo has a 6/under age group and Lakeland has a 8/under age group. The age cutoff is June 1st.
The Ramapo Hills Swim Conference
- Swim meets are held on Monday Evenings at 6:00 pm
- Swimmers should arrive at 5:00 pm and warm-ups at 5:30
- Timers are to report to the head timer by 5:30 pm
- Ages 10 and under swim in the 25 METER lanes (the "25's")
- Ages 11 and up, swim in the 50 METER lanes (the "50's")
- There are typically several heats per race
- Ribbons are awarded for the first four places in each heat
- 8 swimmers per "heat" and more than 1 heat per race
- All swimmers swim in the Ramapo meets
- The Ramapo Championship will be held Monday 8/1
The Lakeland Swim Conference
- Swim meets are held Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm
- Swimmers should arrive at 6:00 pm and warm-ups at 6:30
- Timers are to report to the head timer by 6:30 pm
- All swimmers swim in the 50-meter lanes
- There is usually one heat per race
- Not all swimmers swim, check the board ahead of the meet
- No awards are given at the Lakeland meets
- Lakeland meets are more competitive in nature
- Times are counted toward "A" times for the Championship
- The Lakeland "A" Championship ends our season on Aug. 13
